The College of Science and Engineering Technology is pleased to announce the pilot implementation of its new SMS Portal System for Semester 2, 2026. This initiative forms part of the College's ongoing commitment to leveraging technology to enhance communication, improve service delivery, and provide a more engaging digital experience for students and instructional staff.
The College wishes to assure all students and instructional staff that the introduction of the SMS Portal System does not replace the University's existing Student Information System (SIS). The current system will continue to serve as the University's official platform for academic and administrative processes.
During the pilot phase, both systems will operate simultaneously. Students and instructional staff may therefore be required to access and use both platforms while the new SMS Portal System is being tested and evaluated. This approach will allow the College to assess the system's performance, gather valuable feedback, and make necessary improvements before any future decisions regarding its broader adoption.
The SMS Portal System is being developed to complement existing digital services by providing improved communication, timely notifications, easier access to academic information, and additional features that support teaching, learning, and academic administration within the College.
As part of the pilot, eligible students and instructional staff will be invited to register for user accounts and participate in testing various features of the platform. Their feedback will be essential in helping the College refine the system and ensure it meets the needs of its academic community.
